I have shopped at the Liquor Barn in Kentucky, and it is just about what you would expect. I have bought cold beer at gas stations in the US, and maybe, possibly even drank one in the car. (PBR if you must know). And in a dry county I have purchased moonshine from a banjo player from the trunk of his car. Wineries, craft breweries, LCBO and BC Liquor Stores. And of course the North Shore Liquor Shop, who proudly proclaim “Open 365 days 9am to 11pm.”
Yet in France, in a town of 30,000 people, it is impossible to buy a bottle of wine at 8:30pm on a Friday night. Yes, in France you can’t buy wine!
I’m still trying to understand French liquor laws, and I actually applaud the insane desire to shut down all business at oddball times, but seriously mes amis, it’s Friday night and I can’t buy a bottle of wine?
Made me smile 😉
