So I’m sitting in bed a couple of mornings ago, enjoying a second cup of coffee and reading e-mail, when I hear a noise off to my left.
Since Beatrice the cat is fast asleep beside me on my right, it caught my attention.
Next thing I know this little guy or gal trots along the side of the bed, around the corner, and out of sight. He or she is, I learn, a weasel. AKA a stout. AKA an ermine.
In any event, this is a creature that can kill a much larger rabbit by leaping onto its head and attacking its neck or crushing its skull. Despite the fact that weasels are great at killing off mice, it is not a welcome house-guest.
Check out this video:
So, it was off to Canadian Tire to pick up a Havahart trap. Three days later the little house-guest has been relocated many miles away in the forest. She gave me one look over her shoulder and happily tripped off over the edge of the road into the brush.
Correction ... Ermine 😉 Great resource link
Oh my gracious!!!!! What a word picture that painted! You AND the weasel sound far more calm than I hazard I'd have been!
